I am a freelancer in the creative industries with focus on marketing and publicity, crowdfunding, writing and event coverage, and digital projects. I am available for consultancy on all areas of my work. You can find more information on my services below.

Marketing & Publicity

I’ve worked on marketing and publicity for numerous publishers, from creating marketing materials for educational publishers, running social media campaigns over key sales periods, pulling together and executing publicity plans, and consultation.

I run the marketing and publicity for independent publisher 404 Ink, and have freelanced for companies including Canongate, Hodder Education and Penguin Books. I was part of The Drum's 50 Under 30, for innovation in marketing and digital. My campaign for Nasty Women was Highly Commended in FutureBook’s Campaign of the Year Award, up against Pottermore and HarperCollins’ 200th birthday, for showcasing you don’t need a budget to make an impact.

If you would like more information or me to work with any area of marketing and publicity for your company, or as an individual, get in touch via my contact page.

Writing & Event Coverage

I'm a freelance writer specialising in music, books and culture. I cover book events and conferences, often live-blogging events and festivals. I am currently Books Editor at The Skinny, was formerly a blogger for The Children's Media Conference and have worked with Sky News as part of their innovative election coverage system, covering the Scottish Independence Referendum and 2015 General Election, among many other outlets.

If you would like to commission me to write for you or cover your event, get in touch via my contact page.

I am available for consultancy on crowdfunding projects, having run and advised on multiple successful campaigns. 404 Ink's Kickstarter for Nasty Women raised over £22,000, being fully funded in three days and gaining international press in the process - The Huffington Post dubbed it 'the intersectional essay collection feminists need'. 404 has run multiple successful crowdfunders on Kickstarter and Patreon, and I have privately consulted on numerous successful campaigns. I can advise on all stages from setting up your project, to the branding, marketing and execution of your campaign.

If you have a crowdfunding query, get in touch via my contact page.

Events & Festivals

I have a lot of experience in events, both behind the scenes and chairing. I coordinated Scot Lit Fest, Scotland’s virtual book festival from The Saltire Society. I was also co-chair of the Society of Young Publishers, who run monthly events and conferences to support and teach those in their first ten years in the publishing industry.

I'm frequently an event chair and speaker, having hosted events as part of Edinburgh International Book Festival, SYPGlasgow Comic Con, and Dunfermline Comic Con, as well as book launches. I also spoke at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on the topic of women under public scrutiny alongside First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and acclaimed Turkish novelist Elif Shafak.

For any queries regarding events, or to have me speak at or host an event for you, get in touch via my contact page.

Digital & Coding

I have been running websites since the age of 14, and have a unique background in the industry having run successful websites and online communities at a young age, to setting up and running a music website for five years, running a team of 30+ contributors from the UK, USA, Europe, Canada and Australia. I also code and convert Bright Red's study guides for the Digital Zone, their award-winning free online resource for students - this includes HTML and LaTeX coding for mathematics and formulae. More recently I have been working with Scottish Book Trust on their new Author Directory, launching Summer 2019.

I currently make websites for new companies and organisations, as well as individuals. For digital queries, get in touch via my contact page.

I have been setting up my own projects and organisations for half my life (a startling thought). From online communities, to writing outlets and fully fledged companies. I consult on all areas of setting up a company or project, from business plans and funding applications, to branding, marketing and establishing an online presence. If you are considering setting up something new or are part of a fledgling company and would like advice, get in touch via my contact page.
